The Training Program
We will train
up to four of your personnel. Our process is not difficult
but it does require our thorough training program to
learn it.
In fact, once you understand the process, it is very easy
to restore even the most deteriorated headlight.
One of our
skilled headlight restoration specialists will visit
your dealership, facility, shop, or home. The
standard training schedule is three full (eight hour) days with
your personnel. If you feel that you or your
people need additional training days, we will remain
for up to two extra days for an additional fee.
See fees below. This should be more than
enough time to learn our system, but if more
training time is needed, we will make every effort
to arrange for the additional time.
Dealership:
You will be asked to arrange to have vehicles
available, which need headlight restoration.
You may sell the service to your customers, offer it
for free, find cars on your lot that need
restoration, or find cars in the used car
department. Over the three training days, it
is better to have a variety of vehicles to work on.
Individual or
Shop: You can arrange to have vehicles to work
on or we can visit car dealerships and offer the
headlight restoration service to their customers.
We can also visit used car lots or departments and
offer the restoration service for free or at a
reduced cost. The goal is to work on a variety
of vehicles.
Over the three
days, our restoration specialist will demonstrate
the process many times. Your personnel will
have an opportunity to watch and then practice on
the subject vehicles. Repetition is the
fastest and most effective way to train people and
our goal is to work on as many cars as possible.
You will learn proper sanding techniques, when to
use each grade of sandpaper, how to determine if the
headlight is ready to spray, how to mix the
chemicals, proper taping and masking procedures,
adjusting the spray gun, correct spray techniques,
quality control, fixing mistakes, unwrapping the
vehicle, and cleanup procedures.
You will
receive a list of tools and materials that you will
need to purchase to operate this business. The
tools and materials should cost less than $400
including a small compressor. You may have
many of the tools already. We will be using a
professional grade automotive chemical to restore
the headlights. Prior to our visit, we will do
research and determine where you can purchase this
chemical in your local area. On the third day
of training, we will visit this retailer together
and make your first purchase. When the
training is completed, you will know where to go to
buy all of your materials. On the last (third)
day of training, you or your technicians will
restore the headlights of any subject vehicles that
we can acquire. Our personnel will supervise
and fix any glitches in the restorers technique.
Again, if additional training days are needed, we
can accommodate you.
What we
provide to you
Along with the
hands-on training, we will provide a complete list
of all of the materials and tools that you will need
to correctly perform headlight restoration services.
You will see all of the tools and materials that we
bring to your facility and this will make it easy to
understand what is needed and how it is used.
We will provide the materials (sandpaper, tape, etc)
and the chemicals to restore the headlights on all
of the training vehicles. The most important
thing that we provide is the name and part number of
the exact chemical that you will purchase from your
local retailer. This product is the heart and
soul of what we do and you will be able to purchase
it directly in your area.
How do
we get started
It is logical
to assume that if you have not seen one of our
people perform the headlight restoration service,
then you would (and should) be unwilling to pay a
large fee to be trained on our process. Also,
since you are likely quite a long distance from our
home area, it would be difficult to arrange for a
quick demonstration. Here is how we handle
this. After our phone contact and much
conversation, if you would like a demonstration, we
will send a restoration specialist to your area.
The specialist will visit with the ability to remain
in your area and begin the training process if you
would like to move forward after the demonstration.
There is, of course, a fee for this demonstration
visit. If you do not wish to have the specialist
remain and begin the training process, we will shake
hands and move onto our next customer. If you
are impressed, and see the value of our training, we
will apply the demonstration fee to the training
tuition and start the training. The
demonstration fee is in place to cover the expense
of traveling to your area from ours.
Our Fees
We did some
research and found that franchise fees to start a
headlight restoration business generally range from
$7,500 to $15,000. This does include training,
but in most cases, the new franchisee is required to
purchase their chemicals and supplies from the
franchisor, and there are also monthly fees or 'per
car' fees.
We are not a
franchise. Once you pay the training tuition,
you will never have to pay us another dime (unless
you want to). In fact, we take the extra step
to show you which materials and tools to buy, and we
show you where you can buy them. We want you
to succeed and we don't want any more of your money
when you do. Ok, here are the numbers.

When are
fees due
The
demonstration fee is due prior to us visiting your
area. You may pay with a credit card on the
bottom of this page through our PayPal account, or you may send
us a check. We will schedule our visit and
potential training schedule once the funds clear.
After our
demonstration at your facility, if you would like to
move forward with the training, we will request the
balance of the training tuition before training
begins. This can be in the form of a company
check (new car dealership only), a cashiers check,
or you may pay on this page of our website through our PayPal
account. We apologize for any inconvenience,
but we must be strict about when fees are required.
Once the training takes place, it cannot be taken
back if there are insufficient funds.
Additional facts
Training Schedule
- We will arrive in your area on a Sunday evening.
After an overnight stay in a hotel (at our expense), our specialist
will come to your facility on Monday morning at
8:00am to begin
the demonstration. If you want us to continue
with the training after the demonstration, it will
begin immediately following the demonstration and
tuition payment. Our training work day is up
to eight hours including a one hour lunch break.
Subject Cars -
There is no magic formula to find cars that need
this service. Many need it. Since we cannot
pre arrange test cars in your area from our home
area, it is important that you locate and arrange
for subject cars prior to our arrival. We will
explain several easy methods to locate cars to train
with. Please understand that training cannot
be postponed or extended at our expense if you do
not provide subject vehicles. We will assist
in every way possible (we are successful at this),
but it is ultimately your responsibility.
The Chemical -
Our chemical is a clear coat mixed with the
appropriate activator. After much early
research and testing, the correct product was
approved and we have used it on all of our customers
vehicles. We have had 100% success with this
product. It contains components which allow it
to bond to the polycarbonate headlight lens and
essentially create a new lens. It also
contains UV protection so the headlights will not
deteriorate again. We offer a lifetime
guarantee to our customers, but you may offer any guarantee that you
wish. This is a product that you will be able
to buy at a local retailer. We do not control
your purchase in any way. You will learn the
product name and number on the third day of
training.
The Training
Method - We will demonstrate the process as many
times as necessary, but you or your personnel will
only learn from doing it themselves. We will
encourage your people to jump right in after one or
two demonstrations. Practice makes perfect.
Tools and
Supplies - Our specialist will arrive with their own
tools and supplies to complete the training.
We will also have available for purchase, some of
the tools and materials that you will need to start
your business. You are under no obligation to
purchase any tools or materials from us. The
reason that we have them available for sale is to
make it easy to get you started faster if that is
what you want to do. We will be happy to tell
you where to buy everything that you need.
Rain - Our
headlight restoration method requires a relatively
clean environment. We don't need a 'spray
booth', in fact, we usually work outside. A
covered environment is preferred but not required.
If we do not have a covered work area in your
facility, we will be at the mercy of the weather.
Specifically, rain. If it rains during
training, we cannot spray the headlights if we are
outside. We do bring and use a portable tent
but this is only slightly helpful during rain.
We will make every effort to accommodate your
training if it rains but if you have a covered
environment, we would appreciate using it.
Refund Policy -
The bottom line is ... we don't have one. We
do, however, understand our customers need for a
guarantee of the results of our product / service.
This is the reason that we will do a demonstration
without your need to commit to the training.
Our commitment to you is that we will demonstrate
our headlight restoration service at your facility
on as many as three cars before you are required to
decide on the training. During that time you
should observe the process and speak to the
specialist in depth about their plans for training.
If you do not feel comfortable with the process, our
specialist, or their ability to train you or your
people, then you are under no obligation to pay for
or begin the training. No pressure. If
you do decide to begin the training, however, we
should move quickly to get started because our
(eight hour day) clock starts when we arrive at your
facility.
